Melt Bar & Grilled

With recent appearances on national television shows such as Diners, Drive-in and Dives as well as Man vs. Food (airing this week), Melt Bar & Grilled has gained an enormous amount of popularity among the cheese-lovers of Cleveland. And I can’t argue that it isn’t completely deserving. Melt’s sandwiches are nothing short of phenomenal and totally worth the food coma that you will no doubt experience upon leaving.
In regard to the menu, there’s a nice variety of “safe” choices such as the Wake and Bacon (a personal favorite: eggs, bacon and cheese) as well as some more adventurous choices, such as the Tokyo Tuna Melt (featuring Asian marinated grilled yellowfin steak). For vegetarians and even vegans, Melt is delightfully accommodating with many options.
A common complaint that many are familiar with with Melt is: the wait! Oh God, the wait! But there are a few tips that can be followed to help ensure a speedier way to cheesy goodness. For one: I always try to come during an off-hour, say 11:30am or 3:00pm on a Sunday. It’s definitely less crowded than, say, 7:00pm on a Friday night. Secondly, if you’re with a smaller party of 2-3, you can usually hover around the bar with a drink in hand, and secure a seat within 15-2o minutes.
Lastly, the prices! I am always very pleased with Melt’s prices, because I feel that with the quality of their food, not to mention overwhelming amount of demand, they could definitely get away with charging quite a bit more (but don’t tell them I said that). Most burgers and sandwiches — which are always large enough to create leftovers for me — are under $10.
For our East Side readers, a new location was just opened in Cleveland Heights.
